My 4Lb. Toy Poodle had abdominal surgery - after that she developed a severe red rash above where the IV was injected. As it progressed I took her back to the Vet and they could not give me an answer as to what had caused this problem. She did not have it when she went in to surgery. They put her a Pain Med. and Antibiotic and told me to apply heat to bring the blood to the surface. I did all this and I believe it was the blood rising to the surface, as it got very dark and Kinda of scabby. I took her back and said I did not like the way this was going and what had caused this. They said it "could" be a spideer bite or a reaction to a med. No spider bit her, I'm not buying that. They cleaned out all the dark red top and now it is like raw skin. They told me to apply cold now a couple of times a day (instead of the heat) which they originally told me - keep her on the antibiotics and watch it. They also said it would get very bad looking before it got good. I think this is something that happened to her in the operating room, but I don't know what it could be. If you have any ideas or suggestions, I would really welcome them. Thank You.
