Reply to Dr. Amanda's Post: Not continual only when he is walking and starts to get alittle excited or just all of a sudden, you can hear it very low when he is breathing, no have not seen his tougue bluish, no fainting, vomiting, diarrhea, couging, sneezing as of yet.

Hello again,

Wheezing sounds are associated with the smaller airways in the the lungs constricting and decreasing the amount of air that can get through. It usually has a "musical" quality to the sound.

This occurs usually due to an inflammatory response by the lungs to something. The most common thing that is found is an allergy. However, some really sick dogs with pneumonia or other conditions can get wheezing too. There are also fungal infections and lungworms (yes, real worms that live in the lungs) that can cause problems.

I would take him into the vet soon and have him/her listen to him. He may need steroids or other treatment. I would also recommend a fecal examination to check for lungworms and chest x-rays to evaluate his chest.

I hope this cleared up some things for you. Good luck!
