It sounds very much like your girl has kennel cough which, put simply, is the doggie version of the flu. There is a lot of debate as to the "perfect treatment" for kennel cough. Sometimes it can be treated with nothing more than a cough suppresant to helpmake the pup more comfortable, other times an antibiotic is needed to eliminate a secondary infection. Most of the time it simply depends on the severity of the disease. I am sending you several sites which discuss this in more detail along with treatment options.

I would recomend keeping a close eye on her for the next few days and if symptoms persist or worsen then a call to your vet would be a good idea. In the meantime you can give her a childrens cough suppressant to help relieve her symptoms. You will find accurate information about dosages at the following site and it also gives possible side effects to watch for in your pup.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need further info or if her symptoms worsen.
