My Boston Terrier may or may not have eaten cooked

My Boston Terrier may or may not have eaten cooked chicken bone. He was alone with the trash for 5 min and I found pieces of bone on the floor that he chewed up. My vet said to keep an eye on him and feed him wet cotton balls to assist any sharp edges. This was hours ago...and I am very worried. Should I be?
