hi i have a beautiful toy poodle 11 years old. he has a deformed right front leg from birth. 7th puppy in the womb. he has been healthy except luxation of hs knee. he had surgery on the left back knee many years ago. now it came out again and my vet tried to manipulate it and splint it but it didnt work. also his right hind leg is weak and maybe the same. bottom line is he cant walk and barely sit. no pain though happy wagging and eating.are there any type of supports or braces that would help him walk. poor dear i cant bare to see him crawl. he probably is not a good surgical candidate as he had some airway breathing problems and last time he got so depressed at the vets we had to take him home. any ideas or suggestions. thank you so much.

Optional Information:
Age: 11; Male; Breed: toy poodle or teacup tiny

Already Tried:
surgery left hind knee worked for a long time but its out of place again manipulation and immobilization but didnt work. right hind leg is very weak so he cant walk

Hi Sally,

I think you are experiencing the result of chronic luxated patellae.

Is he grossly bowlegged?

i agree its on the x-rays but what i need is info as to whether any type of brace on both his back knees for support would help him to walk. have you ever heard of this helping and if so where can i get info etc. i dont think he can withstand bilateral hind leg knee surgery. any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. he is a treasure to me and i hope braces could help. thank you so very much. jenny
