My Black Lab. Is loosing hair in some spots and is scratching, there is no signs of fleas. There is a dry thick flaky spot. What should I do?

Your Lab may be developing allergies and this is how they come out. My ex-roomy's Lab would have white flakes and loss of hair on his back just above the tail every fall. He was allergic to the leaves in the back yard and loved to roll in them...not the brightest, but we loved him!
She took him to the vet and he was prescribed an allergy pill and some ointment for the dry skin.
