my 2 yr. old chihuahua vomited twice this am. and has only eaten a small amount of food since. He did drink a good bit of water and a little pedialyte throughout the day.We recently noticed he seems to be walking a little funny-almost like he is having trouble with muscle control. Could his heartworm preventitive med cause these side effects(he received a dose 2 days ago)? He has had this before, but it did not seem to last this long, and it was also after a med administration.

Optional Information:
Age: 2; Male; Breed: chihuahua

Already Tried:
pepto pedialyte

it is entirely possible that your pup is reacting to the heartworm medication. while it is very rare it does happen and would produce the same symptoms you are seeing. I would suggest talking to your vet and putting him on a different heartworm medication. it could be that he is simply having a problem with one of the ingredients in the brand you are using.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need further info.
