Our fancy rat has started breathing with a wheez and rattle. We have looked into the problem and it seem's to be an infection of Mycoplasm. Does this sound correct?
The prescription was to take him to the Vet. to get on antibiotics. Will this help or just prolong his suffering?

Thank You for any advice.

Hi, yes this sounds like mycoplasm which is what most rats have, but what affects them is another type of respiratory virus that takes over. I would definetly seek vet care so he can get started on an antibiotic. If they don't get treated this can be fatal, but with care and treatment many rats can recover. Hope this helps and good luck. Make sure you keep him eating and hydrated and away from draft.
