Any time that a dog has a swollen face or mouth area, there are two things that you should be concerned about.

The first is an allergic reaction to an insect, product or food. This can be pretty dangerous because swelling of the facial area can restrict the dog's breathing.

The other concerns is that she has some sort of mouth/tooth/gum problem that has caused the swelling. This will most likely not get better on its own and you might need antibiotics.

Most vets recommend benadryl as an antihistamine. You can call yours to verify but most recommend 1 mg per lb of dog given every 8-12 hours as needed.

Let me know if you still have questions.

The puss in his ears can only be cleared up with antibiotics and having a vet get in there and thoroughly clean the ears.

The benadryl will give him a small amount of relief and will reduce the facial swelling.

Yes. You can use human benadryl. 1 mg per pound of dog every 8 hours as needed.
