hello, i have a 2 yr old female pug. lately she has had a lot of eye goop. toay i noticed a small oval spot on her eye, i wiped her eyes hoping it was goop, it is not, it almost looks like a hole. any idea what this is and should i take her to the vet?

It sounds like your pug may have a corneal ulcer. They can look like there is a hole or dent in the clear part of the eye (cornea). Since pugs have sort of bulgey eyes, they are more prone to ulcers than many other breeds. It is very important for you to take her in to your vet as soon as you can as untreated ulcers may get deep enough to go all the way thru the cornea which may allow the eyeball to rupture. Also, they are usually painful.
