10 yr old rotty. not eating has cough everynow and then cold maybe or cancer maybe?

This might be due to kennel cough or canine influenza

But this might also be a sign of heart disease including heartworms or the heart not pumping as well as it should.

Your senior dog should have a geriatric check up by the vet to find out what is wrong.

If he is on a pain reliever such as rimadyl or metacam or deramaxx nsaids etc these can cause serious gastric upset in some dogs and that might be the problem.
I'd definitely discuss that with your vet. Usually they like to keep tabs on bloodwork as these meds can impact liver and kidneys too.
