Is it possible for my black lab to strain and/or sprain his left leg. He was playful yesterday but last night started limping and today he is lissless and can bearly stand on his left front leg?

ice,and rubbing him for comfort any other suggestions

Yes. Injury is possible in pets just like it is in people. You will want to go ahead and see your vet tomorrow for an exam and possibly even an x-ray to find out what's going on.

Your vet might want you to give him some aspirin tonight to help with pain. You can give him a call and find out. If he agrees, you can get dosage information and read about precautions here:
