My 13-l/2 year old Shih Zhu was having seizures and was put on the following meds: I can't help but feel they did more harm than good and hastened my pet's death. I need to know so I can put closure to my grief. Elanapril -l/2 tablet twice daily, Spirolactone-25 mg l/4 tbs twice daily Pheno Barb -35 mg l tablet twice daily. When she took a turn for the worse I rushed her to emergency and she was in a severe state of dehydration. She was drinking lots of water and yet did not have any bowel movements for a week other than little dry stools and then had stopped urinating on the last day of her life. The Vet suggested I take her off the meds and try sterioids to bring her around; however she would continue to have seizures. I made the decision to put her to rest and now feel I should have let her go on without the meds and die naturally. Any info you can give me would be very helpful. Sincerely, Loretta Malise
