I have a french mastif that has been projectile vomiting for the last day & a half. She can't keep any thing down. What can I do for her. She hasn't gotten into anything to have a blockage or anything.

Hi: Projectile vomiting is usually due to a bacterial or viral infection or can be from a problem with the pancreas. I would go ahead and give your vet a call and possibly even bring a sample of the vomit with you to aid in diagnosis. At this point, it is important to keep her hydrated. You can add some plain pedialyte to her drinking water or offer it to her by the dropper ful. You will also want to start a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice to help settle her stomach. Hope this helps and your girl is feeling better soon. Let me know if there is anything else regarding this I can help you with. I am tring to rule out a blockage the reply I already am doing all those things so thank you but that doesn't help me. If its a blockage would her vomit still be yellow & smell like feeces. I would think that that is just her bile, since she can't keep anything down. So if her bile is coming up does that mean theres not a blockage. please some one just put my mind at ease. thank you.

I just got home fron the vet. He's 80% sure its not a blockage. The x-rays didn't show anything but there was food in her belly. There was also a lot of gas so he gave her reglan & a acid med to see if that would help. Her temp was normal he said hopefully once he gets things moving she'll be ok. If the meds don'y work I have to call him fri to dol blood work. I was really happy to hear he's 80% sure its not a blockage. I have a four year old & it's his dog I would hate for anything to happen to her. We love her very much & unfortunitly if surgery is required we just couldn't afford it if the vet wouln't take payments. Ya know how it is there like your kids. Thank you again
