Please help. My horse was just euthanized due to an enterolith which was lodged in a section of the colon that subsequently ruptured. This is not the first case. We have a 20 year old Arabian gelding who had the same thing. It lodged in the colon; we did surgery immediately discovering the enterolith. He survived the surgery an is fine today.
I live in Arizona, which I understand is an area where this problem is common.
What would be an appropriate feeding program which would lessen the occurance of these stones. At this time we are feeding a combination of Purina 100, Bran and Alfalfa hay.

Optional Information:
Age: 10; Female; Breed: Arabian & Arabian/Quarter mix

Already Tried:
Regular feeding program, regular psyllium treatment, regular worming, immunizations, etc.

Relist: I still need help.
The article supplied was excellent, but did not provide a technical/chemical discussion of enteroliths in horses. In addition, I would like to learn of any dietary recommendations which may help decrease the development of these stones.

Thank you
