my 12 pound terrier mix is acting like he is having a hard time swallowing but he is eating nothing at the time . I thought there may have been a chewy lodged in his throat and when i checked I found nothing, He wanted out to eat grass and then immediatly threw up a milkbone that had been chewed up. But since then he is trying to rest but still keeps swallowing over and over again . His gums are pink to the touch, he looks a little frantic in the eyes and he can't get comfortable , lots of groans and changing of positions, some tummy gurgling too.. this has been going on for an hour.

Optional Information:
Age: 6; Male; Breed: terrier mix

Already Tried:
a small amount of peroxide to dislodge what may have been blocking his throat, eatig grass

Sounds like he is nauseous as that often causes lip licking and swallowing actions.
If he had a chewy he swallowed in a big chunk it may not be able to pass through his intestinal tract or from his stomach to his intestinal tract making him very uncomfortable.
With him looking frantic if you could get him to an emergency vet I'd consider doing that.
If you cannot you can consider trying either Tagemet or Pepcid to see if that will help relieve his gastric distress. Scroll down through these pages to read dose and caution info
www.petplace.com/drug-library/cimetidine-hcl-tagamet/page1.aspx
www.petplace.com/drug-library/famotidine-pepcid/page1.aspx
Peroxide can be used to make a dog vomit but it might not get up something swallowed. The dose is 1-3 teaspoons in the back of the mouth to induce vomiting and can be repeated in 15 minutes if no vomiting happens.
It really sounds like he is in pain though and I think vet care would he his best bet.
Hope this helps you!

If he is quiet and not just too sick to move then I'd leave him be. If he gets upset looking or wild eyed again try the pepcid.
Glad he is doing better!
If he had something stuck and not moving out of his stomach through the pyloric valve correctly it could really have hurt and have made him uncomfortable. If that is the case it may still cause a problem if it made it through to the intestinal tract as it might cause an obstruction if it can't pass. So keep an eye on him.

I'd let him have the water but if he is normal in the morning I'd watch the stool for anything suspicious to let you know it passed through finally. If he still seems uncomfortable or has a problem passing stool etc. I'd see the vet as an x-ray or abdominal palpation might tell you a lot.
If he was out unattended while feeling ill you might want to check in daylight for something vomited up too.
Anything a sock, a rock, a stick, a chunk of greenie or rawhide swallowed in a big lump can cause this. Sometimes what goes down just doesn't pass through gracefully and this sounds like what might have happened. Keep the bookmarks for the antacid doses :) just in case he does this again. And if he's still off tomorrow at least call your vet to see what they say about bringing him in.
