Question

I have a 10 month old yorkie who is biting the hair

Sent to Pet Experts March 07, 2006 7:41 p.m.

I have a 10 month old yorkie who is biting the hair off her hind legs. She is constantly scratching herself. Her coat is extremely oily enen with the use of medicated baths. At first the vet thought she had sarcoptics and she underwent treatment for that. We have tried a cortisone injection which calmed down the scratching for about 10 days then, it resumed worse than ever. We have tried the hypoallergenic vet food for 30 days without results. I now have her on the BARF diet but she does not seem to be any better. She has not had a heat cycle yet. Could she have a problem with her thyroid? Do you think she has an environmental allergy? Optional Information: Age: <1; Female; Breed: Yorkshire terrierAlready Tried: food trial
revolution
cortisone
seameal supplements
flaxseed oil
