my 14 yr old canine has recently lost her appetite and spunk.   i thook her in to a new vet cause we have moved. I thought her condition may have been caused by the loss of ther canine fangs. I don't know how long it's been since she lost them, but it's been less than 2 wks. She has very poor teeth. The vet stated she might have open roots & will need oral surgery. Because of her age and the precedure will call for anasthesia they ran Pre-op lab test. The test came back showing liver problems. Then they took a x-ray, they found no tumers. However they said it could be still be a liver disease. Her splein is abnormally large also. They will not put her under for any oral surgery until we find out what is going on. They now have her on Dexamethasone IM/SQ(a steriod for her teeth), Metronidazole(flagyl) 250mg every 12 hrs, Baytril 68 mg taste tabs every 24 hrs, and Sucralfate 1gram ever 12 hrs 30 mins. after she eats.
She has been on this medicine for five days with no improvement. She won't eat hardly at all now. i called the vet today and wants me to come in tomorrow to run more test such as Cocci Antibody screen/Titer for valley fever, and Heartworm-EC-Lyme Cite for tick fever. We have already spent $400 for the first test and x-rays with no results. Do you feel it necessary for test they suggest, or can you suggest any other options to seek.   Please email me or i will check the message board for you answer ASAP.

Thank you
