I have a female boston terrier weighs 23 lbs. My husband accidently stepped on her left hind leg while going down some steps. We took her to my vet which could not find anything wrong. It has been one week and she acts fine, except some times she still limps and she also sticks her leg straight out behind her and shakes. She runs and jumps but sometimes she cries out. Could this just be a bruise like they said, or should I take her back for further tests?

She might have hurt a ligament which you can read about here

Sticking the leg out to pop the knee back in is common with this.
When the knee shifts its painful but it doesn't shift all the time.
Hope this helps you!

Yes I would have the vet examine her.
She may need surgery to repair this and the above site discusses the options.
She could have a crack in the bone that is slowly healing and causing pain still too.
They might be able to see or feel more now its been a bit since the accident.
