My mother left her yorkie for me to watch while she attends a meeting for about 2 weeks. I am unsure should I take him to the vet? he is 15 years old. or is there something I can do here is this normal?

I really dont want anything to happen while he is here visiting ... she is aware of the problem as he had trouble getting his bowel out this morning but he has not eaten anything today to make another bowel.

any advise you could give would be helpful.....Kim

Dogs have anal glands located at 10 and 2, like a clock, below the tail. It sounds like you may be seeing an overly full or infected anal gland.

Any groomer or vet can express the glands for you and give the dog some relief.
