My cat suddenly is acting very strang. Hiding under the dresser and making loud noises if I go by him, also growling. He is not in pain because when I picked him up he did not yell out or anything. However, he is an indoor cat. does not get into any plants or mischiff. He is a wonderfull fello, full of life. I am worried. He seems to be spookes or something. I have two others. A female and a kitten who is also a female. All are spayed and newtered. They are fine. Please shed some light. My vet is out until Monday. Thanks, Laura

Hiding and making noises are almost always a symtom of pain. Even if he did not yelp when you picked him up,he can still have a painful issue. It is also possible that he was spooked by one of the other cats.
Examine his entire body and mouth for foreign objects, broken teeth, etc. Pay special attention to his tongue and pads.
If you see nothing and he does not develope any symptoms of illness in the next couple of hours -and he is eating, drinking and pottying normally - you can safely assume it was stress induced.
However, continue to watch him VERY carfully for anything unusual.
Please let me know if you find anything on him and how he is doing in a few hours.

Hello again,
Storm just came out of the room and he is eating, however he does appear spooked. It is almost as if we are new people to him. I had to lure him into eating (but he is eating!) He seems afraid to do anything. What could have caused such a thing? Right now he is under my computer desk as I am working, but will not let me hold him as I usually do, or even approach him? He finished his complete dish of food. and went to the bathroom. No dirrahea.....

The fact that Storm is eating is a super excelllent sign. It means he is not sick and just had a "spooky" experience. It could be anything from stepping on something to smelling something "different" on another cat.
You may never know what sparked the incident - but I would just keep him quiet and leave him be. Whatever it was, he seems to be on his way to getting over it.
Please let me know how he is in a couple of hours. Just click relist on your question.

Reply to Terri Riba's Post: Thank you but he is still just laying around. He appears warm, and his eye is tearing. Could he have an sinus infection. ( He does have allergies)

Is it possible one of the other cats injured Storm's eye?
