I have a 16 year old yellow tabby who was diagnosed with diabetes 4 yrs. ago. This morning when we woke up we found he had thrown up fluid, no solids. He has since thrown up the same bubbly liquid twice more. He want eat or drink, is very listless. I have not given him his 5 units of insulin yet tonite. It is time to do so. I'm wandering if you could give me an idea of what this might be and should I give him his insulin. Let me also mention he has had a diabetic reaction in the past (disoriented, stuff such as that and this does not seem to be the problem) Let me also mention he urinates in his box or outside but when he takes a poop he does not necessarily hunt for his box.

Optional Information:
Age: >12; Male; Breed: Yellow Tabby

Already Tried:
Tried to get him to drink some water with no luck. Tried to get him to a small piece of cooked quail no luck.

ACCEPTED Check Mark

I would not give him his insulin on an empty stomach. He needs to see a vet soon as he may be in kidney failure. t his age with his health issues this is not something to wait to see a vet for. If you cannot have him seen tonight he needs to go first thing when your vet opens in the morning. Try anything as far as food goes- baby food, canned cat food, tuna- if you have a syringe that you can put something in to squirt in the side of his mouth. Hopefully he will keep it down once you get some in.

Thank you for your reply, it makes sense as a matter of fact myself and my wife had talked of the same thing. Unfortunately we cannot get him to a vet until in the morning since we live in a small rural community.
