My five month old female was spayed one and a half weeks ago. She has a bulge the size of a tennis ball at the cut site. It doesn't seem to bother her too much. She won't drink her water, but she will eat ice cubes. She eats ok and has the ability to urinate and deficate. She is a yellow lab and I am no longer in contact with the vet that did it. I have an appoinment with my vet tomorrow. I was wondering if I should be doing something today?

It sounds as though she may have a hernia so it is good that you are having her seen tomorrow. For today just male sure that you use some warm compresses and for the pain you can give some aspirin at a dosage rate of 5 to 10mg per pound of body weight every 12 hours or one baby aspirin for every 16 pounds of body weight every 12 hours. Do not use Tylenol or Motrin as these can be toxic to your labrador.

she doesn't seem to be hurting at all. I ran her alot four days after her surgery, so I may be to blame.
