Hi, I boarded my two year old Labradoodle for a week. I picked him up last Sunday and he seemed as active and happy as usual.   By Monday night he starte sneezing, however, the sneezing did not seem to bother him when laying down. By Tuesday he was a bit quieter that usual and not drinking and eating too much. I coaxed him with some milk and chicken broth/w/ dog food. He ate and drank everything and seemed to rebound. Although he has seemed happy and fairly energetic he does not seem 100%.   Tonight the sneezing increased and he had four bouts of wheezing and he is really sticking by my side and is quieter than usual. It sounds almost like he may have had something lodged in his nose and it is now working its way out through his throat. This, however, would not explain why he is quieter than usual. I should also mention that he does have a slightly runny nose and that he did have the Bortadella vaccine at the end of last July. Do you have any idea what this could be?

Its good he had the kennel cough vaccine. The bad news is it doesn't cover all the kinds of kennel cough and it only lasts about 6 months.
He may have kennel cough

or he may have picked up the new canine flu for which there is no vaccine

If he is really off I'd see the vet as either can go into pneumonia pretty easily.
Don't blame the kennel, as boarding a dog is rather like sending your kid to school, if a germ is going around everyone is likely to get it!
Hope this helps you!

Hi,

Thank you, I got your answer and I brought him to the vet yesterday. He had a temp of 103.5 and quite a bit of wheezing in his trachea and chest area. He was diagnosed with an upper resperatory infection (most likely kennel cough). He was put on a weeks worth of antibiotics. I hope it works.

Thank you,

Urte
