I have a black flat coated lab, 5 years old. The dark area around his pupal looks like it is seeping into the white area at the bottom of his eye. any idea what this means? I am very concerned about my pal Max, Thanks. Customer (name blocked for privacy)

It's hard to say since I can't see it. But it could be a corneal ulcer that is causing discoloration. Even simple abrasions from eyelashes rubbing the eye can cause problems.

I would go ahead and see the vet for a good ocular exam. As these dogs age, you don't want to take any chances with ocular health.
