my 6,year old male maltese was neutered at 6 months of age
In the last few weeks he has developed humping motion (lasts about 5-10 seconds) then licks the area of his genitals
this occurs afew times a day. I notice his very small genitals
withdraws (disappears) when this occurs. I took him to a vet
who determined his prostate was enlarged. antibiotics
brought that back to normal, but he still has the problem
described above. no other apparent problems. any ideas?

If he has a prostate issue, this is pretty normal. You will also see it when there is a back or spinal injury so you will want to see the vet for more info about this side of things if the symptoms persist. He might just need another round of antibiotics or further exploration of the prostate (ultrasound, surgery).

Let me know if you still have questions.
