I have a 7 year old female golden retriever who in the past ...

I have a 7 year old female golden retriever who in the past few months has developed "bumps" (quarter size) on her back. They dont seem to bother her but wanted to know what may cause this? My neighbor has a 10 year old male golden with similiar issue and their vet said this was normal. Is this normal for goldens?
