i just got a shih zu llasa apso male from a co-worker and he is full of mats. when i try to shave him he freaks out and starts bitting. i was wondering if there is something i could give him at home to sedate him so i can shave him and keep my hands,

i've tried talking to him to calm him down, treats, gradually introducing the clippers. none of that worked.
