I have a 4 year old corgi mix, rescued from a kill shelter last year. He will often start incessantly licking the rugs/floors/eating various sundries or house plants, while making loud "gagging" noises. He seems to be attempting to make himself vomit. If I let him out of the house(which is what he wants), he'll run to the grass and start eating it, but if I keep him in then he starts with the behavior stated above. My vet has told me to give him Pepcid AC, which takes at least a few hours to kick in and start working. Last night this went on from around 10:30 PM - 1 AM. I do not know if he ever actually vomitted because he spent alot of that time in the yard.
This happens at least 2 times a month and I'm just wondering if something serious could really be wrong with him. Any advice?
