my 3yr old dacshund has a really bad ear infection from what other vets have told me but they want to wait one week before they really exam him and i 'm to put calamine lotion in his ear to dry it up before they see him dose this sound right?

Has he been to the vet with this ear infection and they didn't look at his ear? Or are you telling me your past experience?
