I have a 13 year old large mixed breed, with hind leg problems. up until yesterday he limped and walked with a little extra effort. Yesterday he could not put walking weight on his bad right leg. If he has discomfort we give him two buffered asprins, and place a heating pad on his bad leg. he also takes 1500mg of glucosimine daily.
Our vet has told us for the last two years the dog has advanced arthritis. We have tried Deramax and that did not help.
Are there any direct injected medications that might help this latest phase of this problem, or any other avenues to follow.

Optional Information:
Age: >12; Male; Breed: mix lab, greatdane, rot.

I know that it is difficult to watch him try to walk when you know he is in pain, there are many anti inflammatory drugs that can be used to decrease the pain and make the joint more mobile. even a shot of a pain killer will only work temporarly. I wish i could offer more, i know what it is like to watch someone you love be in pain, keep doing the heat and alternate with ice, give the vet a call and see if he can give him a shot of toradol ( anti inflammatory)
