This sounds like he could have some sort of infection or parasitic problem. You really should get him to a vet before he gets too weak.

Peace,

Reply to christina tavanian's Post: I beleive this is a mineral or vitamin deficiency, possibly humidity. I was hoping to hear from someone who has experienced this before. Sorry.

This is true, but with the reddish color in the stool I would be concerned that it is more than a deficiency. Call your vet and see if the can check for the mineral/vitamin levels in a stool sample. This way you can know exactly what's going on and take it from there.
How is she eating? Is she keeping the same activity level?

Relist: I want a different opinion.
I don't want to hear that I should take the bird to a vet. I would like to hear from someone who has had this experience with their parrot to give direction.

My 28 year old Amazon has recently had nose (or do you say beak) bleeding. A bit of wheezing also. Her stools have a bit of red color. I live in Colorado, and we are running our heaters now. Mine has a humidifier and we are not as dry as one might think. The bird eats a mixture of seed and fresh apples. Waqter is changed daily.

The beak bleeding has stopped after a couple days. I did add a drop of vinegar to its water.

SO, what has happened?
