Sounds like what is called an ear flap hematoma where a blood vessel breaks inside the ear flap causing a swelling.
Usually there is an underlying cause of an ear infection or ear mites causing head shaking or scratching which initiates the trauma.
You should probably have the vet drain and suture it and check for ear issues.
If you leave it the fluids may increase or the ear may end up crumpled with scar tissue if the area isn't drained.
Hope this helps you!
