I am breeding mini dacschund and this is my first time. Male and female has points in breed shows. My female is 2 1/2 years and male is 3 years and has bred before. My female won't stand for him. She keeps nipping at him. I have tried holding her like I was shown, but she still can reach and nip him. What do I do know? How strong do you restrain them. He did mount her, but didn't penitrate as far as I could tell. Any advice would help.\
thanks

Optional Information:
Age: 2; Female; Breed: mini daschund

Already Tried:
Holding her while he tries to breed. She is swollen and seems ready to be bred right now.

She has silent heats, so she keeps herself real clean that it is hard to tell when she first comes into heat. She is swollen and her vulva open like that one of my friends said that she would be ready to breed. I normally only find alittle blood when she is in heat. Last night there was a drop of blood on her bed and the male I have is very interested in her.

Would it be okay to try and get them together once a day to see if she will let him? Since it is the weekend I can't get a vet until monday. I am thinking that he started whining at our door last monday. So I am thinking she was coming in heat on monday. She should let him mount when she is ready even if it is her first time?

Yes. It's ok to introduce them to one another every day. When she's ready, she will let him mount.

Relist: I still need help.
The bitch is now standing for him. She is even holding her tale to the side and up. He hasn't penetrate her yet. My husband thought they were locked together when we let them outside, but I didn't see it so I am not sure if they were or if he was just humping her. He said that he seen him and then he got scared and back off of her.   Do we just hope they tie together if left alone? If I try to hold her still he pays attention to me. She used to snap at him when he did try to penatrate her so I am not sure if he is afraid to or what.
