my five year old male maltese just experienced a symtom that he was a bit letargic unable to walk straight but only turning to the left side, he was kept in observation that night for an MRI the following morning, but fortunately that same night he returned to his normal healthy behaviour of a maltese. He is home and we are still watching him closely, doctor told us due to normal state the MRI will not show any results. I'm still baffled on what went on with him do you have any suggestions or input? Pleas advise.....Optional Information: Age: 5; Male; Breed: Maltese Tried: nothing, In same day he returned to his active, alert state, along with eating playing, all test results were normal , for the exception of slight stress. Lungs heart, vertebrae all normal...

This could be a sign of a vestibular problem. You can read about vestibular disease here
www.marvistavet.com/html/body_vestibular_disease.html
It might be due to an inner ear infection that can't be seen by looking at the external ear area. You might ask the vet for a round of antibiotics to clear up a suspected infection and see if that cures the problem.
I think if you read through the above site you will find that could be it. Its a bit similar to Meniere's Disease in humans with the vertigo.
Hope this helps you!

the ear infection was considered and although results showed that was not the problem. Is this a common problem? I've notice he will scratch both his left & right ears. I'm just nervous. The reason for the MRI was the possibility of a tumor, but again with the normal active state just unsure.
