My 4-year old Torte named Silky was bitten by my younger calico cat during a cat fight. I took Silky to the vet and she was given antibiotics. I left an Elizabethan collar on her throughout the 10 days she was on meds. Shortly thereafter she started vomiting, sometimes watery brownish/red, sometimes with gooey stuff. She also had diarrhea. For about a day she didn't eat nor sleep. The vet said to stop the meds and take her in. The X-ray showed no signs of obstruction. She was given a subcu and sent home. During the diarrhea, she tried to clean herself aggressively. Now she has an inflammation near her anus and was told by the vet to give her Desitin. Even with the e-collar, she has licked herself, including the Desitin. Now, she cannot move her bowel. What do I do? I read about a homeoathic diet in your website. Should I pursue that? Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Marianne

Optional Information:
Age: 4; Female; Breed: torte

Already Tried:
stopped the use of Desitin and tried to take out the Desitin from her anus and hair. She vomited last night after I tried to do that. This morning she still has not moved her bowel but has urinated in her litterbox.

I have a follow-up question. Should I give her something to try to eliminate the Desitin that she has licked and already in her system? Also, the smaller cat who bit Silky is no longer in the house since the incident happened (left her at a friend's house to be away from each other). Does this mean that Silky is still suffering from the stress of the attack even if she has not seen the other cat since then?

If you have laxatone give her a strip of that . If you don't even a half teaspoon of plain vaseline will do. Yes, Silky is still way stressed out even though the other cat has left temporarily. Do not annoy her by attemting to treat her anal area. She has antibacterial enzymes in her saliva and can heal herself. The laxatone (or vaseline) will help her bowels to move. You can also add a teaspoon of canned pumpkin (not pie filling) to her wet food to aid in this effort. Leave her alone to calm down today as much as possible and keep giving her laxitone. If she does not go by tomorrow report it to you vet.She may need up to a week of peace and quiet to start feeling better.
