my 11 year old lab/shep. mix has been on Deramaxx for about 3 months, today he had blood work and his vet called to say that we had to take him off of the deramaxx;because his liver enzymes went up to high since the he had done the blood work before the deramaxx. What I would like to know, is will these enzymes go down after the medication is stopped and what do you think of using etogesic instead?
Thank youOptional Information: Age: 11; Female; Breed: Lab/shep mixAlready Tried: Deramaxx for osteoarthritis

Any of the non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs(NSAIDS) can cause liver problems.
You can discuss with your vet trying another one.
But yes the liver can repair itself in time if the irritant is removed before too much damage is done. (Good vet to have you do the testing!)
You might find Adequan shots (liquid glucosamine) and then tablets like Cosequin or Glycloflex will help without impacting the liver.
Hope this helps you!
