my boxer beau has been bleeding from his mouth this

My boxer, Beau, has been bleeding from his mouth.

This happened a few weeks ago, and we thought our cat stratched him..because it stopped. But then the other day, it happened again and then stopped. Tonight, after he ate, he started bleeding again and then we took away the food and then the bleeding went away. I looked into his mouth and it doesn't seem to be a tooth..but maybe it is.

What else could it be. Thanks for your help.

Optional Information:
Age: 4; Male; Breed: Boxer

Already Tried:
Just washed his mouth with water. This seemed to make the bleeding subside.

Its time to see the vet with him. He may have a tooth abcess or periodontal disease. He could have a small tumor that is bleeding. He might have something stuck in his mouth or between his teeth causing this too.
You need the vet to look the mouth over well for you to figure out what is wrong and how to fix it.
Hope this helps you!

If its an abcess or injury it might take that long for infection to build up enough to cause it to burst open.
If its a tumor it may just depend on it being hit. Might seep all the time and be swallowed.
I think the vet exam will tell you more.
