TAIL DEGLOVING INJURY

Sent to Pet Experts December 26 07:24 PM

My cat had a degloving injury of her tail about a week or so ago. I didn't see it happen but I strongly suspect the neighbor's dog. Only about the last 3 inches or so of her tail are gone, and other than it looking awful, it seems to function perfectly normally. I can't afford a vet visit and was wondering if there's something I can do here at home to keep the risk of infection down and effect maximum healing. I've tried putting Neosporin on it but, of course, she immediately licks it off. I'd certainly appreciate any advice. Thanks!
