my month old female collie just got her period this

My 6 month old female collie, just got her period this morning. I have a un-neutered beagle in the house as well. I am afraid to let her out of her create, while he is here. She just started today. Can she get pregnat, while in the "first stage of heat cyle? i am sorry I always had male dogs. She is going to the vet in the am to be spayed. They said they can fix her. It will cost more money.

Yes they can sometimes get pregnant in the first couple of days but its unusual.
If she does get bred as you have a spay appointment already it should not be an issue anyway.
Best thing is to give each of them crate time while the other one is loose. Or you could call the vet and ask if you can board her overnight with them before the surgery to calm your house down a little.
