I have a 13 year old female mix breed. I know she has arthritis, but she is standing in one place trembling. It is not a seizure, just shaking from head to toe. Any thoughts?

Realistic thinking tells us, that they could be mini seizure even though it does not look like what we know a seizure to be in human terms.

All my life I have had Dachounds and they are prone to seizure activity even when well. The shaking that you speak of may very well be a petitte mal seizure. Also, at your pets age it could be a nerological issue. Over time, watch for sluggish movements and loss of tone, control in the limbs, this is, for sure a brain conection issue and needs treatment right away.

Reply to Joe's Post: In the past 3 months or so she has started losing control of her bladder and bowels. She never went in the house before and now she is having accidents as well. The sluggish movement you are speaking of, could this be a result of the siezures as well as the loss of control?

Yes the sluggish movement would be caused by some type of brain truma. Siezures left untreated can rasie the risk of strokes in some cases.

I STRONGLY suggest that you get her to the vet ASAP. 13 is up there in terms of dog years and I suspect the on set of these tremers is somewhat age related. Her brian in layman's terms may be misfireing and causeing slugishness as well as loss of bladder/bowel control.
