i have a year old shih tzu that developed a growth on his

I HAVE A 12 YEAR OLD SHIH TZU THAT DEVELOPED A GROWTH ON HIS SIDE THAT I NOTICED ABOUT A MONTH AGO. NOW I LOOKED CLOSE AT IT TODAY AND IT HAS A HOLE (LIKE NEEDLE HOLE) IN THE MIDDLE AND IS REAL RED. WHAT COULD THIS BE?

I ONLY JUST RECENTLY NOTICED IT BUT IT WAS CLOSED YESTERDAY AND NOW IT FAVORS A BLACKHEAD ONLY WITH A KNOT UNDER IT.

This could be a cyst, ingrown hair, infection or it could even be a warble (parasites that burrows under the skin).

For tonight, I would wash it well with a betadine or peroxide wash. Then dry it completely and you can apply some neosporin ointment.

If you don't see it start to resolve, you will want to see your vet to find out what's going on.
