Reply to Terri Riba's Post: thank you terri for responding to my letter about my squirrel. he is 1 1/2 years old male red squirrel not nuetered. yes i took him in for tests they were very vage as to the results but i was told that his spleen and liver were showing some kind of disturbance. as far as feeding him i understand the needs for a squirrel as far as protein fats and carbs they are nut and vegtable eaters along with fruit. do u think that maybe it is something in his diet or not in his diet that caused this .please give me all the ideas that you have . thank you

I am sorry you are not happy. I told you it sounds like he has encephalitis. I also gave you a womans email who has had years and years of raising squirrel experience and would be more than happy to help you as she has helped me many times when my vet has been unable to. Squirrels are not a domestic animal so people with hands on experience sometimes can be more helpful. I have raised a lot of them myself and any time they started with these symptoms it was encephalitis. We even suspected rabies in one when it did this, seizured and died. After testing it it was negative.
