Question

i have a year old golden female noticed some blood in

Sent to Pet Experts December 15, 2005 1:41 p.m.

I have a 5 year old golden female. Noticed some blood in urine. Had her checked, urin test, xray- No bacteria in urine, but high red and white blood cells. Vet suggested an ultrasound and maybe a biopsy on her kidneys. I have heard that it could be late stage lyme disease. Any ideas? Thanks

Optional Information:
Age: 5; Female; Breed: golden retriever

Already Tried:
she is on baytril 68mg. only past 3 days

Do test for tick carried diseases to see if that is the issue. Might be worth doing that before doing an ultrasound and biopsy. Not only Lyme but ehrlichia and babeosis could have urinary tract impact.

A bladder polyp could cause irritation and symptoms like this too.
A bladder cancer could do this too

I think I'd start with the tick carried disease testing and then go on and do an ultrasound if that was indicated. Check the bladder and surrounding tissues as well as the kidneys during the ultrasound.
Good luck with her!
