my year old male chowcollieshepard mix was hit by a car

My 9 year old male chow/collie/shepard mix was hit by a car today and is at the emergency vet. They informed me that he has a Maxilla Fracture of the upper jaw and will have to undergo surgery. they estimate it will cost on a low range 2,585 and on the high range 4,476 I lovto my dog dearly and adore him. If i say yes to the surgery what will be his prognosis or have you seen other dogs recover from a major fracture to the upper jaw.
