Hi: Friends from overseas alsked me to help them find information about manuracturer's and/or suppliers of hip joint implants. They found an injured stray dog about a year ago. Since then he's been through a number of surgeries including two hip total replacements. One was successful, the other needs total reworking. They are looking for an implant with a longer stem (than the one they purchased from New Generation Devices) with an acetabulum cup that does not require cement but can be affixed with - I don't know - screws? Is there a company custom making veterinary hip joint implants on the basis of x-ray information (as they tell me is done for humans when necessary)? I need to start my search from somewhere and this site seemed the best bet. Thanks.

Optional Information:
Age: 4; Male; Breed: mut

Already Tried:
series of surgeries including hip replacement

REPLIEDCheck Mark
http://www.gcvs.com/surgery/total_hip.htm discusses the surgery and suggests
http://www.biomedtrix.com/ as a source for hip joint replacement materials that might suit their needs.
You can see the joint replacement system on that site and it includes cemented and non cemented possibilities.
Hope this helps you!

Reply to Nancy Holmes's Post: Thanks for the prompt reply. My friends have already been in touch with Biomedtrix (as well as New Generation Devices) and it appears that neither has what they need. I myself went through a number of sites before I happened upon Just Answer and the Gulf Coast Vets was one of them. Now I know probably more than I need about hip displasia and hip replacement but I still don't have a list of implant supplier or manufacturers which is what they need so that they can order the prosthesis.
