my English Bulldog, 2 years old was lying on the couch, and he hasn't gotten up,I tried to help him off the couch and he just kinda slid off and laid there

He is responsive, I opened the door and called him to come outside,he got his front legs up, but couldn't get up on his back legs. He wanted to come, he just couldn't. Could he have hurt his back legs or hips, but how could he have gotten on the couch, or maybe he hurt them trying to get up there

There can be a trauma to the spine from the strangest causes. Even simple arthritis can cause what you are seeing.

I would go ahead and see the vet with him as soon as you can so that you can get him started on an anti-inflammatory and get some x-rays to find out what's going on.

The sooner you can see the vet, the better.
