Nutriceuticals such as glucosamine/chondroitin are not a solution but can help to nourish the joint, possibly slow progression of cartilage damage and help relieve pain. At your dog's young age, is she showing signs of dysplasia already, or has she been diagnosed with hip dysplasia?
Other treatments besides NSAIDS (which have shown to be a potential problem with liver and kidney function) are homeopathic remedies, herbs and acupuncture. If she has severe problems, in some cases surgical intervention is recommended and can be helpful.
