My 2 year old Mini Daschund just had her first litter two weeks ago and she still seems to be having a pink/red mucus discharge. Is this normal for this long or should she be checked out by a Vet. She seems to be eating real well and I have her on Vitamin suppliments for nursing and she is pretty active but I keep having to change out the linens in the birth room as she is spotting on them with this discharge.

Optional Information:
Age: 2; Female; Breed: Mini Dapple Daschund

Traces of discharge may persist for up to three weeks following delivery. I would go ahead and schedule a vet visit with her to have her checked out if her rectal temp is elevated (above 102.5). Dogs are subject to infection following birth so you need to keep a close eye on this.
