Reply to ZooCVT's Post: I have not seen any discharge and there has been no sneezing. They are over 7 years old. That is when i got them so I am not quite sure of their true age. I have 2 birds and their nares look crusty but one of my parakeet's has her/his nares almost closed, only a little slit seems open on each nare. But there does not seem to be any problem with eating or breathing. They are pretty dry too (the nares that is). And they sing/talk quite often. Thank you so very much for any assistance/opinion you can offer.

As long as they are eating/drinking/acting normally then if they are handleable I would try getting a q-tip and placing a VERY small amount of vaseline around the dry area's not getting into the nares. You can also try taking them in the bathroom with you when you shower because the steam will help if the air is dry in your house. Should there be any discharge or they start sneezing then a vet visit is needed.
